In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus is revealed as the one God said He would send into the world, to save both the Israelites and Gentiles. Luke wrote that Jesus was called by the Holy Spirit to come bring Good News to the poor and to meet the needs of people. Luke’s Gospel also carries a message of hope concerning Jesus' time on earth (chapters 1 and 24), as well as His ascending into heaven. More detail concerning the spreading of this Good News and the growth of the disciples' faith after Jesus' ascension are written about in The Acts of the Apostles.
This book was written by Luke who was also the author of The Acts of the Apostles. He was not a Jew but a well-educated Greek man who became a Christian. He accompanied the apostle Paul on some of his travels preaching the Good News of Jesus. In this book he explains the life and work of Jesus in an orderly way so that people who are not Jews could understand.
